Is your migraine getting worse when you are exposed to a direct sunlight? Tell us in the comments!
After the car accident in 2001, many doctors visited me, and no one knew what to do. My diagnosis was fibromyalgia and I didn’t have any information about that.
I had no idea what to do next. The doctors put me on so much medicine, I thought that there is no way that could be healthy for me. At some point, I thought I was going to overdose.
None of my family and friends recognized me. My whole behavior changed. I was not the same person. After a month I went back to the doctor to tell them I was not okay with my medicine. The doctor didn’t actually care. They said that it is for the better if I stayed on the medicine. I felt like I was drowning in pain and like I was surrounded by fog.
I decided to stop using the medicine that was prescribed by the doctor. The migraines continued and so, I have lived from 2001 until now in pain, dark rooms, and don’t go outside my home.
The pain that I get when I get exposed to direct sunlight causes my headaches to get so much harder, it hurts my eyes, the pain in my body is beyond tolerable, and I can’t even breathe correctly. These are just some of the things that happen to me when I decide to leave my own home, so some days I don’t even leave my bed.
I honestly have no idea what to do and how to handle this. The doctors treat me like a guinea pig and nothing good comes out of it. I can’t leave my home, I don’t really watch TV or use any electronic devices. My home is always dark because the light hurts me.
There is a way to handle my headaches, but that happens only if I do everything possible not to trigger the migraines.
At the moment I am seeing a new doctor, I am once again feeling like a guinea pig. I’ve had some good experiences with doctors though. The last one was beyond helpful. She did not ignore me or my condition.
My plan for the next few months or even years is to keep my positive thoughts. It really was hard for me for the past few years, but I will do my best to feel better and be better.
Stay tuned to read part 4, where I will get into how the fibromyalgia and migraines changed my family life and how friends treat me.
